The Procedure
For best results, men are encouraged to shave facial hair prior to coming in for an injectables appointment. The procedure for BOTOX® Cosmetic begins with icing the treatment area to numb the skin. The injections are administered quickly and cause little discomfort. There may be a bit of redness afterward, but this will quickly fade. Avoiding strenuous exercise for a few hours is recommended.
For RADIESSE®, Dr. Mensa applies a topical gel or local anesthetic prior to injecting the product into the skin. Some patients experience minor bruising or mild swelling, but this should disappear in a day or two.
