Liposuction: The Cost of Fat Reduction and Body Sculpting By on July 30, 2015

A woman's body diagrammed for body sculptingThe team at Mesna Plastic Surgery has helped countless patients in and around the Minneapolis area achieve their aesthetic goals. This is often achieved through body contouring surgeries such as liposuction, which removes unwanted pockets from different parts of the body.

Since many patients have questions about the cost of liposuction, let's take a moment to go over some of the basics regarding the cost of liposuction and your options for treatment.

What is the cost of liposuction?

The cost of liposuction can vary a fair amount from patient to patient for a whole host of reasons. Because of this variance, providing an average cost for liposuction treatment or even a general price range would not necessarily convey the whole story when it comes to body contouring procedures.

With this in mind, we should state that we would be more than happy to provide a personalized price quote for a liposuction procedure during the consultation process. This will include a full price breakdown, including an itemized look at the various expenses involved.

Factors That Affect the Cost of Liposuction

Some of the factors that affect the cost of liposuction include the following:

  • The location of the cosmetic surgery center
  • The credentials and expertise of the plastic surgeons
  • The amount of fat to be removed
  • The location(s) for the fat removal
  • Special promotions that are unique to an individual practice

Is liposuction covered by my insurance?

No.

Liposuction is an elective and cosmetic procedure rather than a medically necessary one. Because of this, health insurance providers will not offer to cover any of the cost of the surgery.

The only time that liposuction may be considered applicable for insurance coverage is if the procedure is done in order to harvest fat to be used in a reconstructive procedure, such as a breast reconstruction or a facial reconstruction surgery. Even in these cases, the liposuction may note be eligible for insurance coverage. Be sure to check with your insurance provider for any reconstructive surgeries just in case.

How do monthly financing payment options work?

Monthly financing for plastic surgery is similar to a traditional loan or a credit card. A trusted third-party lender covers the total cost of the liposuction procedure. The patient is then responsible for paying back the total cost of the procedure on a monthly basis, with a reasonable interest rate applied to the cost of the procedure.

Discussing Treatment and Payment Options In Full Detail

During the consultation process, we will be more than happy to discuss all of your treatment options as well as your payment options in full detail. This will help you receive answers to all of your questions and allow you to make a confident decision about your aesthetic enhancement options.
