Minneapolis Arm Lift SurgeryFor many people who've lost considerable weight, excess skin can stand in the way of fully reaching their body image goals. Unfortunately, this excess skin can't be exercised or dieted away. For others, toned upper arms may seem impossible to achieve even with regular upper body exercise. The upper arms are one trouble spot in particular that many wish to improve. Dr. Gregory T. Mesna, a leading Minneapolis plastic surgeon, is experienced in body contouring procedures, like arm lift surgery, to give you the sculpted body you've wished to achieve.

What Is Arm Lift Surgery?

The arm lift procedure, also known as brachioplasty, is the surgical removal of excess skin. During arm lift surgery, the upper arm is contoured and reshaped to create slim, beautiful upper arms. Arm lift surgery generally lasts two to four hours and is completed as an outpatient procedure. The surgery is performed by creating incisions along the inner arm. The incisions typically reach from elbow to armpit and are made on the underside of the arm.  The incisions are made in this area to be less noticeable after healing. The excess hanging skin and fat is then removed. Further contouring may be necessary and can be achieved with liposuction.

Arm Lift Surgery Recovery

Brachioplasty, or arm lift surgery, is a serious procedure. Candidates should be in good general health. The initial recovery phase takes around 10 to 14 days. Bruising and swelling can be expected during the initial recovery phase and strenuous activity should be avoided. Some experience numbness following the arm lift procedure; this generally fades over time. For most, complete recovery can be expected within four to six weeks. Wearing supportive bandages during the recovery phase is necessary to reduce swelling and aid in healing.

What Results Can I Expect With Arm Lift Surgery?

With arm lift surgery, you can have the type of arms you'll want to show off. Arm lift surgery creates slender, sculpted arms that exercising alone may be unable to achieve. Here are a few of the many benefits you can expect to experience with arm lift surgery:

  • Improved Self-Image: With the removal of excess skin from the upper arms, you will finally see the results of weight loss and exercise.
  • Clothes Will Fit Better: Sleeves will fit better and feel less tight with arm lift surgery, making you feel better about how you look.
  • Feel Confident Going Sleeveless: With arm lift surgery, you will finally have the confidence to wear sleeveless clothing.
  • Muscle Definition: Arm lift surgery allows for improved muscle definition to show through.
  • Youthful Looking Arms: Brachioplasty can add firmness to your arms and make them look years younger.
