Read Our 5-Star Google Reviews "My Only Regret Is Not Doing This Sooner!"
I recently had a tummy tuck with Dr. Mesna in late December of 2020. I had been self-conscious about the hanging skin on my abdomen for years which was compounded by separation of my abdominal muscles from 2 pregnancies. Dr. Mesna exceeded my expectations!... I was able to move around independently from day one and the pain was minimal. Dr. Mesna is meticulous and a perfectionist, my scar is so thin and perfect and I know it will fade to nothing over time. My only regret is not doing this sooner!View On Google
I highly recommend Dr. Mesna! He and his staff are so caring and kind. He really listened to what I was concerned about and trying to accomplish with my body and gave me the results that I was hoping for! After my pregnancies and breast-feeding my 3 beautiful children- I wasn't feeling so confident about certain areas of body. Dr. Mesna was able to give me my confidence back! He really is talented and provides results.View On Google
Watch Dr. Mesna Discuss the Liposuction Procedure
The liposuction procedure is performed using small, strategically placed incisions in the treatment area. Through these incisions, Dr. Mesna inserts a cannula, a long, thin, hollow instrument that gently suctions excess fat deposits out of the treatment area. Depending on your unique concerns, Dr. Mesna can use one of several methods to suction fat from the body at our Minneapolis practice.
During the tumescent liposuction procedure, Dr. Mesna will inject a local anesthetic solution made of lidocaine and epinephrine. The lidocaine acts as a anesthetic to numb the area and ensure your comfort, and the epinephrine is a vasoconstrictor that shrinks capillaries to drastically minimize bleeding.
Tumescent liposuction is highly beneficial for patients because of its ability to limit bleeding during and after surgery. Additionally, patients do not need to rely on significant amounts of general anesthesia or narcotics in order to remain comfortable during surgery.
Smartlipo is an advanced type of laser-assisted liposuction. Laser energy targets fat cells, breaking them apart for easier removal. This technique also causes tissue coagulation, which helps shrink tissues for more even contouring. The skin is tightened through the coagulation effect, lessening the effect of dimpling and sagging of the skin.
Smartlipo is minimally invasive and uses local anesthesia to numb specific treatment areas, which allows you to be awake throughout the procedure.
This type of liposuction surgery uses the power of ultrasound waves to break up or liquefy fat cells for easier removal. It is mainly used to remove fat in areas that tend to be more difficult to treat, including the knees, calves, ankles, neck, and chin.
Ultrasonic liposuction is usually performed in combination with tumescent liposuction, in order to achieve more precise results. After Dr. Mesna injects the local anesthetic solution, he applies ultrasonic waves via the cannula to the fat cells. The ultrasonic waves liquefy the fat, which enables it to be vacuumed out easily.
Am I a Candidate for Treatment?
Liposuction candidates include patients with excess fat on their:
- Face or Neck
Treats Targeted Areas
It is important to recognize that this surgery is not intended to provide substantial weight loss, but rather to reduce fat deposits in a patient who is already healthy.
Patients with a healthy diet and exercise regimen are more likely to maintain long-term results after their procedure at our Minneapolis practice.
If you have diabetes, a heart condition, or another chronic disease, your primary care physician will need to determine whether this surgery is safe for you.
As with any surgery, it is important that you do not smoke at least two weeks prior to your surgery, as well as during your healing time. Smoking can weaken the immune system and prolong your recovery.
Finally, patients seeking liposuction should have realistic goals and expectations. Be sure to ask questions, voice concerns, and express your feelings about the procedure so that Dr. Mesna can be fully aware of your treatment goals.
The Cost of the Liposuction Procedure
On average, you can expect to pay anywhere from $1,500 to $10,000 for your liposuction procedure. It is difficult to determine an exact cost because each patient is unique. Your cost will depend on a variety of factors.
Liposuction at our practice starts at $1,500.
